Lifting and attachment of loads

This module provides an overview of the various types of sling (attachment) gear and hoisting devices use especially in the production, erection and maintenance of wind turbines. Focus is on the construction and function of sling gear and hoisting devices, and on unequivocal communication between slinger and crane operator. Participants learn so select and use suitable sling gear and hoisting devices.
Unlimited validity of the certificate, but annual instruction is necessary if working as a slinger.

Knowledge

State the most important legal regulations and technical rules relating to sling gear and hoisting devices
Name the dangers of working with sling gear and hoisting operations
Differentiate between types of sling gear
Name possible malfunctions of sling gear and hoisting gear
State the load carrying capacity of sling gear

Skills

Select sling gear and check the sling gear
Define hoisting procedure with the crane operator
Use hand signals
Attaching and lifting wind turbine components

Prerequisites

Vocational training in mechanics or electrical engineering
Basic knowledge of wind turbine components

Assessment Method

Theoretical examination, practical examination
Pass rate: 70% theory, 70% practice
