Assembly and Maintenance of Hydraulic Pumps and Valves

This module provides an overview of hydraulic pumps and hydraulic valves, and where they are installed in wind turbines. The focus is on circuits for speed controllers, methods of connection of hydraulic devices and the construction and function of hydraulic motors. Participants learn to install and perform maintenance on these units using hydraulic training stations, and are taught the dangers of working with these components.

Describe the construction and function of pre-controlled directional valves, pressure valves and stop valves for pitch systems and crane controls for wind turbines
Explain the construction and function of hydraulic motors
Differentiate between different types of connection of hydraulic devices
Name possible dangers of working with hydraulic pumps and valves in wind turbines

Skills

Calculate hydraulic quantities
Assemble and dismantle hydraulic devices
Assemble and dismantle hydraulic valves
Adjust pressures and volume flows on hydraulic elements
Perform and document trouble-shooting on hydraulic elements
Apply health and safety rules in dealing with hydraulic systems

Prerequisites

Vocational training in mechanics or electrical engineering, RSC-HYD-01, RSC-HYD-02, Basic knowledge of wind energy technology
