Assembly and Maintenance of Hydro-Dynamic and Hydro-Kinetic Drives

This module provides an overview of the construction and function of hydrostatic and hydrokinetic drives in wind turbines. Participants learn to assemble, dismantle and perform maintenance on drive systems, and the dangers of working with these components.

Knowledge

Describe and explain circuits for hydrostatic and hydrokinetic drives
Describe and explain functions of piston engines
Differentiate between constant units and adjusting units in wind turbine systems
Describe and explain the construction and function of controllers on wind turbine systems for variable displacement pumps and variable displacement motors
Describe the different adjustment possibilities for piston engines
Explain the physical principle of hydrodynamic power transmission (Foettinger couplings)
Explain the construction and function of the hydrokinetic coupling
Explain the construction and function of a hydrokinetic torque converter (Voith WIN-Drive)
Describe where hydrodynamic torque converter (Voith WIN-Drive) are located in wind turbines
Name possible dangers of working with hydraulic drive systems

Skills

Assemble, dismantle and perform maintenance on hydrodynamic components
Adjust pressure and adjustment ranges on adjustment units
Assess degree of soiling and wear and tear in the oil circuit of hydrodynamic drives
Perform and assess measurements on various hydraulic systems and components for wind turbines
Perform power measurements on hydrokinetic converters
Perform and document trouble shooting on the basis of circuit diagrams

Prerequisites

Vocational training in mechanics or electrical engineering, RSC-HYD-01, RSC-HYD-02, RSC-HYD-03, RSC-HYD-04, RSC-HYD-05, RSC-HYD-06, RSC-HYD-07, Basic knowledge of wind energy technology
